This website contains creative
ideas and writings from my
undergraduate students from my
classes who define their
interpretation of what leadership
is.
Quality Digest.com Web Page
This was my first article that I had
ever created. It was for Quality
Digest magazine defining the
quality concepts required for
suppliers with QS-9000. At that
time, I was a Supplier Development
Engineer.
MY FIRST BOOK
The reason I created this book is
to help primarily undergraduate
students learn what they need to
do to prepare themselves for a
career in today’s world.
It is, however, applicable to
anyone looking to change their
career, obtain a new career
position and to understand what it
takes to get ahead in their job
position.
MY CAREER HISTORY
My first encounter and passion with teamwork came when I was in the U.
S. Marines. It was there that I learned how important teamwork is, how
important it is to count on others and them to count on you. In the
military and in combat, teamwork is essential - survival depends upon it.
From then on I always valued the power of teamwork and have kept that
philosophy with me all thru my life. My second term in the Marine Corps,
I was a Radar Air Traffic Controller, and once again, working as a team
was incredibly important not only for each of us to depend on each
other, but the fact that other human lives relied upon us as well.
I am very self critical and because I am a quality engineer, I strongly
believe in two principles:
1.
You are never perfect and should always be looking to continuously
improve. Nothing is perfect and while I never claim to be, I must try
daily to be better than the day before.
2.
Never assume you have solved anything. Always look for the root
cause and not the surface symptom.
This web site has a dual purpose. The first is to provide a web site for
production workers to learn how to use the 7 Basic Quality Tools on the
production floor to improve their process and help eliminate defects.
Most of the Quality Tools have to be administered on a computer and
generally, with some specific computer software. With the methods that
teaching here, all you need is paper and pencil; well, of course a
computer and the Internet to access this site with. A printer helps so that
you can print the blank forms I provide, however, it can be created even
without downloading the forms. The second purpose is to educate and
inspire those into the field of Quality, Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
